Beckett Park, Cherrywood

We were very proud to be involved in the fantastic Beckett Park project appointed to Murray & Associates by their client Hines Ireland Group. The Cherrywood development is effectively a new town located in South Dublin and Beckett Park is one of the three main parks within the area.

The layout of the park is dynamic, angular and geometric, with concrete paving in a variety of finishes lo define spaces and emphasise place.
The park includes a large all-weather synthetic pitch, six tennis courts, a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), boules courts, an outdoor gym and play area, as well as passive spaces for sitting, walking, relaxation, etc. The planned schools adjacent to the site will benefit hugely from these facilities.

Granite stone excavated in the course of the wider Cherrywood Infrastructure project was utilised to create robust and rough seating and retaining walls throughout the park which contrast strongly with the geometric lines of the paving.
All of the park elements are set into this angular framework, integrating the disparate spaces and elements within a single harmonious composition.

Underpinning the design is the use of native vegetation and a range of landscape typologies including grassland, woodland copse, hedgerow habitats, which are beneficial to local biodiversity. Existing retained vegetation was carefully managed during the construction process to ensure its long-tern, viability.
The park is expected to be opened to the public in 2021 and will undoubtedly add to the quality of life enjoyed by all in Cherrywood
