Get Creative with Gabion Rock Planters
A gabion (from Italian gabbione meaning "big cage"; from Italian gabbia and Latin cavea meaning "cage") is a cage, cylinder, or box filled with rocks, concrete, or sometimes sand and soil for use in civil engineering, road building, military applications and landscaping. For erosion control, caged riprap is used. - Wikipedia (2015)
SAP Landscapes are pleased to offer Gabions as part of their creative landscape design and build services. The applications are are only limited by designers ideas and so far we have created stone walls, herb spirals, stone containers, raised beds, raised ponds, fire pits, barbecues, seating, car ports, pools and creative flower pots.
SAP demonstrated their Tree Gabions as attractive natural effect wrap-arounds for the large-scale tree pots holding their trees at the Architecture Expo 2015. This was our first public demonstration of our Gabions and they were very well received by the conference delegates. The addition of SAP's tree range and stone Gabions to the interior design provided a link between the stone walls of the historic venue via a softer and natural contrast to the modern stylish materials on display and stand elements comprising metal, plastic, fabric, and wood. Thanks to all for their positive feedback and we look forward to bringing you more information and pictures of innovative designs with Gabions soon.
SAP Gabion display at Bloom 2016
Our stand at Bloom 2016 received a lot of attention for our gabion pillars and walls. The gabions were filled with white Spanish marble cobbles that framed the garden's living walls and made the vibrant colours of the plants stand out magnificently.
